Update on KISS Dog Training's Next Book

Good news I finished my second read through and edits on our new book (no title yet, but on how to be a better shelter volunteer) Now the book goes on to Kate my wonderful wife, editor and grammar teacher! Lastly we will pass it on to several other folks for editing and idea checking, and finally to the publisher. Hopefully will be on the market within 3-6 months!

THERE IS A CAMPAIGN ABOUT TO END THE USE OF CRATES AND KENNELS IN THE DOG WORLD (I PROBABLY DON'T NEED TO TELL YOU WHO IS BEHIND THIS CAMPAIGN) BUT USED PROPERLY CRATES AND KENNELS ARE VITAL PARTS TO ANY DOG TRAINING. THEY ARE NO MORE CRUEL THAN THE PLAY PENS OUR PARENTS USED ON US. IT DRIVES ME NUTS WHEN PEOPLE MAKE BLANKET STATEMENTS WITH NO FACTS TO BACK THEM UP... REALLY COOL ARTICLE ON TRAINING A BLIND DOG!

Some of you know this is a topic near and dear to my heart. Leo our Leonberger (really original I know) is about 70% blind and has been since birth. We adopted her at the age of 3 months and have been blessed to have her since that day. With both blind and deaf dogs, many people think that they are less of a pet and would not make good pet. I am here (along with this article) to say it is quite the opposite. If you have the time and patience to train up front I think in some cases they can make even better pets! Well it is great info and please share it with all you dog folks and friends...

FRIDAY FUNNY!!!! This time it's a Joke :-)

Beware of the Dog…


Upon entering a small country store, a stranger noticed a sign saying DANGER! BEWARE OF DOG! posted on the glass door. Inside a harmless old hound dog was asleep on the floor besides the cash register.  He asked the store manager, "Is that the dog folks are supposed to beware of?"  "Yep, that's him," he replied.  The amused stranger inquired, "That certainly doesn't look like a dangerous dog to me. Why in the world would you post that sign?" The owner responded, "Because, before I posted that sign, people kept tripping over him."
